URUGUAY: Doing better than expected

In the first eight months exports were up by 19%, year-on-year, at US$2.67bn. Exports of traditional items (meat, wool and leather) were up by 32% at US$871m. Non-traditional exports were up by 14% at US$1.83bn. What is unusual about Uruguay's exports is that the prices of its commodity exports have not risen as much as metals, energy or agribusiness items such as soya.
